Oil on Canvas
Size (without frame) 90 cm x 70 cm
This piece began as a loose watercolour sketch made on a windswept morning near Silverdale where the sea brushes up against the edge of the Lake District. That early sketch carried something raw and urgent—a sense of vastness, of something just out of reach.
Now reimagined in oil, the painting holds onto that feeling. The sea rolls in deep blue layers, textured and moody. The sky lifts gently above it, painted in upward strokes with soft hints of pink—like the first light stretching across the horizon. There’s no hard line between sea and sky, just a quiet merging, a breath between worlds.
It’s dramatic, but also tender. A moment caught between solitude and connection. Between movement and stillness. I really enjoyed capturing this scene and I am happy with the final execution of the painting.
