About
Growing up in the British Northern County of Lancashire, Nadeem’s creativity was recognised and encouraged from a very early age. Subsequently, he attended the Cumbria Institute of Art and Design where he continued developing a passion for fine art, and his initial training was in drawing, painting, and sketching.
As an aspiring artist living in a deprived area of Lancashire, his passion for art was often shunned and not encouraged. Amidst criticism, he held onto his passion and continued to create art from a deep, personal place. He says, “despite the challenges, I remained committed to my artistic vision and journey”.
Nadeem spent a lot of time looking at the works of Lucien Freud and Francis Bacon as well as impressionist painters such as Monet, Pollock and Turner. Within this period, which mainly consisted of self-learning, Nadeem looked and studied intensely the form and surrounding aspects of life, the clouds, the skies and the lakes and rivers around him. “Living in Lancashire, I am constantly inspired by the open spaces, vast skies, billowing clouds, and sprawling fields that define this beautiful region. These natural elements fuel my creativity and serve as the foundation for my artistic expression”.
Nadeem’s paintings are powerful and ethereal, embodying the essence of contemporary abstract expressionism. Through uninhibited strokes and bold compositions, his paintings aim to move viewers on a deep, emotional level. Each artwork is a journey, inviting the observer to explore the dynamic interplay of colour, form, and movement. Drawing inspiration from the natural world around him, Nadeem’s work captures the energy and spirit of the landscapes that surround him. “The vast open fields and ever-changing skies become a canvas for my imagination, allowing me to translate their beauty and majesty into abstract forms”.
Nadeem’s artistic journey is a continuous exploration of the power of art to evoke emotion and create feelings. His contemporary abstract expressionist paintings strive to convey a sense of wonder and transcendence, leaving a lasting impact on those who encounter his work.
Nadeem Baghdadi currently lives in Blackburn and works in his studio in Bolton. He studied at the Cumbria College of Art and Design, completing his studies in painting in 2001. Nadeem Baghdadi participates in exhibitions internationally.
