Red Sun Falling

£1,975.00

I first carried out sketches for this painting while walking near Blea Tarn in the Lake District — the light there seemed to fall through the valley in slow waves, and that memory stayed with me as I worked. The piece grew from those impressions, the way colour moves across water and stone, shifting between warmth and shadow.

I used soft, sweeping brushstrokes to carry the feeling of light and memory. I painted this piece with a sense of quiet movement, letting the reds and violets fall into one another until they felt like dusk folding over the land.

There’s something ethereal in how the tones shift, almost like watching the sun dissolve through mist. I enjoyed painting it — the rhythm of the brush, the way the colour found its own balance — a moment suspended between atmosphere and emotion.
