Clouds
This oil painting is rooted in the many contemplative walks I do through the Lake District. This atmospheric piece embodies movement, light, and emotion through sweeping strokes and rich textures. The initial watercolour sketch laid the foundation, but in translating it to oil on canvas, the work gained depth and vibrancy—the fluidity of clouds emerging through layered blues and whites, with subtle touches of pink adding warmth. I wanted to make the painting expressive yet meditative. This contemporary exploration captures the fleeting, ever-changing sky with a dynamic interplay of colour and gesture. I was really happy with the way it turned out. And is slightly larger than what I normally produce.
